Have You Had GFiber Installed Recently? Installer Arrested After Allegedly Accessing Customer’s Phone

Irvine, Calif. — September 15, 2026 — Have you recently had GFiber internet installed in your home?

Irvine police are asking residents to take notice after a 37-year-old internet installer was arrested for allegedly accessing a customer’s cellphone during an installation and sending himself a private, explicit video found on the device.

Detectives say there may be additional victims.

According to the Irvine Police Department, a woman reported on September 9 that she had GFiber internet installed at her Irvine apartment in early August.

During the installation, the technician asked her to use her cellphone to “test the Wi-Fi” signal. She handed over the phone, and the installer reportedly had possession of it for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

When the woman later checked on him, she could not see what he was doing with her phone. It was not until later that she discovered something disturbing.

A sexually explicit video she had previously sent to her partner by text message had also been sent from her phone to another device through iMessage.

Although the message had been deleted from her cellphone, the woman found evidence of the message on a linked iPad.

She then used the phone number associated with the receiving device to identify the person behind it.

According to police, the number belonged to Logan Edward Gray-McCannon of Hemet, the same installer who had been inside her apartment.

Investigators launched an investigation and arrested Gray-McCannon at his home on the afternoon of September 11.

Police say evidence uncovered during the investigation has raised concerns that other customers may have experienced similar incidents.

The Irvine Police Department is releasing Gray-McCannon’s photograph in an effort to determine whether additional people may have had similar interactions with him.

Gray-McCannon was booked into the Orange County Jail on allegations including commercial burglary, sharing a private sexual image of a person without consent, and unauthorized computer access.

GFiber identifies installer as contractor

In an update issued September 15, GFiber informed the Irvine Police Department that Gray-McCannon was a contractor with ITC Service Group Acquisition.

Police have not said how many additional potential victims may exist, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who had a similar interaction with Gray-McCannon, or believes they may have been affected, is asked to contact Irvine Police Detective Sanders at:

Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward as investigators work to determine whether there are additional victims.
